In Pippin, the ensemble plays a vital role in bringing the story to life. They serve as a collective presence that supports and enhances the narrative, representing various characters, settings, and elements within the show. They create the world of Pippin, contribute to the overall storytelling, and provide a vibrant backdrop that highlights the journey and themes of the show.

Ensemble: The ensemble plays many parts including: Charlemagne's Army, Monks, Nobility, Peasants, and The Players with opportunities for expansion.

Leading Player: Any gender, the ultimate 'ring leader.' Masterfully charming and manipulative, the Leading Player is a chameleon of sorts. Guides Pippin through his own story and tries to intervene at the end. excellent dancer. Obsessed with putting on a great show for the audience.

Pippin: Our story's young and confused protagonist. He is longing to find his purpose in life. Naive, innocent, and discontent. Eventually finds love and meaning in life with Catherine and Theo.

Charlemagne: Pippin's demanding father. As the King of the Holy Roman Empire, Charlemagne is more comfortable wielding a sword than breaking bread. He wears his years with great pride.

Fastrada: Pippin's conniving stepmother. A seductress, who is no stranger to deceit and betrayal, she is both sexy and smart. Skilled at using her sexual appeal to benefit herself and her son.

Lewis: Charlemagne and Fastrada’s son. Strong and not bright. Pippin’s half-brother and after Pippin, heir to the throne. Addicted to the physical, Lewis loves weight lifting, Lewis loves wrestling, but most of all, Lewis loves Lewis.

Berthe: Pippin's saucy grandmother. A brassy woman full of wisdom, grace, and sass. She tries to help Pippin and encourages him to live his life to the fullest.

Catherine: A widow and mother. She is a beautiful and hopeless romantic, who possesses graceful elegance. Encounters Pippin at his lowest point and eventually falls in love with him.

Theo: Catherine's son.

Mid-Life Players is excited to announce the auditions for Pippin In Concert this January 17th and 18th from 1 PM to 4 PM at One Spirit United Methodist, Raytown, MO.

Prepare 16-32 measures of your own choice song (preferably 70s pop rock style). An accompanist will be provided. You do not need to come on both days, but if available, we'd love to see you both days! Cold readings from the script might be requested.
Auditioners have to be 30 years old or older by opening night.

Performances: April 17-19 - Just Off Broadway Theatre, Kansas City, MO

Rehearsals: Will start on Jan 21st with a reading of the show, then run from January 25th, every Sunday (from 2-5 PM) and alternating on Wednesday/Thursday (from 6:30-8:30 PM), depending on the week at One Spirit United Methodist, Raytown, MO.

Tech Rehearsals: Will be Monday to Thursday (April 13 - 16) at 3051 Central St / Kansas City, MO (Just Off Broadway Theatre)
